Too much story

So I started the new series, my witch series, and I think I might have too much story. As stupid as it sounds, the trick to writing short fiction is to focus on one event. The stories I’m envisioning for Jeff are very big.

I’ve thought about cutting out certain plots, but if I do then the stories then feel incomplete to me.  It just feels like this should be one book and not three stories.

But I don’t have time to write a book. If I did, I’d be writing about Edie and Marley.

I swear I will finish this story, just as soon as I can afford an editor.

I’d decided to shelve the story until this weekend, and try again. I’ll finish the first one and see what I think. If it feels too off, then I’ll just have to abandon the project.  I like Jeff and all his cousins, but I really don’t have the time or money to get into a book. Me and my friends can edit a novella or short. Editing books… I’ll leave that to the professionals.

  1. I feel your pain. I’ve realised I have too much story in my *novel*, which is meaning a bit of a rethink to say the least! Best of luck to you, and remember chocolate always helps 😉 (Unless of course you don’t like it, but that’s a whole other topic.)

  2. I’ve heard of the these strange beasts who like not the chocolate, but I’ve never encountered one. This week though, I plan on getting a wee bit drunk and trying to finish the first story.
